Going Local vs. Fair Trade

When it comes to making the conscientious choice of knowing where your food comes from, it may be hard to decide between going local or choosing fair trade. Both local and fair trade have different and distinct differences even according to origin.

Local-food markets have been growing in popularity and prevalence in the US. People choose local because majority feels that supporting local agriculture, freshness and taste, and convenience are the most important factor when purchasing items. On the other hand, the interest in fair trade items has vastly expanded in the last few years. Demand for fair trade product is continuing to grow mostly in developing countries like UK, USA, France, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, Sweden, and Austria, respectively.
